Industry-Academia Cooperation

Industry-Academia Cooperation

Responding to the importance of environmental sustainability from the world, MID continues to lead the mission of sustainable development and implements ESG social participation actions. Not only do we lead circular economy design concepts into the construction process, promote low-carbon sustainable procurement, and so on, we also promote it to create cases with green buildings and will also promote cooperation between industry, government, and academia, actively assist in the transformation and upgrading of the construction industry.

MID understands that ESG is the core concept to achieve corporate social responsibility, therefore promoting the transformation and upgrading of the construction industry actively, and plans to start with education. MID construction team will cooperate with architecture-related departments; the main directions are 1. Financial assistance provided by the industry; 2. Interact with industrial scholars to introduce green energy-related knowledge, assure them fully apply and absorb; 3. Internship field; 4. temp workers and public sector communication, and more.  Modernize the construction industry through industry-academia cooperation and cultivate talents in the field of architectural design.

Although Taiwan’s construction and development industry is booming, builders who think forward and implement the concept of sustainability are not universal. MID believes that we should start with transmitting ideas and give priority to holding forums, making the industry can conduct in-depth exchanges, and draft strategies for the development of the industry so that the development of the construction industry can also conform to the international trend.

Except for spreading out the concept, MID also works with academia. Through cooperation with the architectural development-related department, we can cultivate first-class talents with international perspectives in the academic field. By introducing innovative ideas from the industrial side, we hope to increase the diversification, specialization, and influence of academic research.

The development of the construction industry is a centurial huge plan. Newly-developed buildings shouldn’t only pursue safer and healthier, more convenient, comfortable, energy-saving, carbon-reducing, and environmentally friendly hardware equipment, but should also integrate products, equipment, and services to improve the quality of living. Specific practices and concepts require more experiences to pass on. The industry needs massive professionals to have enough project execution capabilities for responding to industry upgrades.

MID plans to enhance the interaction with the academia, conduct practical discussions with teachers, and go to campus to have face-to-face exchanges with teachers and students.  We would also provide campus internships for students to have first-hand industry experience if we have enough power, and the academia can also integrate with practice.

Extending from the campus experience, MID would communicate with the public sector further on, bringing policymakers closer to the needs of the industry, building up an environment for promoting sustainable construction in Taiwan, so that all industries in Taiwan can achieve sustainable development, create a low-carbon and energy-saving living environment.

MID has already become a model in the industry. Through innovative technology, we pursue the goal of low energy consumption in construction. If we can share practical experience and help train talents to promote the realization of a sustainable environment in Taiwan, it will help the overall industry development.
